Chambers and Partners Success for Queen Square Chambers

We are delighted to announce that members of our Crime and Employment departments have been awarded rankings in this year’s Chambers and Partners. Following our success in Legal 500 earlier in the year, we are proud to see that our teams have been rightly recognised in this directory as well.

Quoted as “a reputable set on the Western Circuit, noted for its expert handling of complex and high-profile criminal cases”, our well-established Crime team, have achieved a team rating in Band 3. Regularly instructed in both prosecution and defence cases relating to serious crimes, such as, drugs conspiracies, high-value frauds, violent assaults, murders and even terrorism offences. Solicitors praised QSC for having a “good range of advocates”.

Head of chambers, Charles Row, has been ranked as a Band 1 advocate. Not only recognised for his work at the criminal bar, Charles has also been identified for his regulatory work in health and safety and trading standards cases. “He is detailed and sensitive, but with sufficient gravitas in court to command respect. His written and oral advocacy is very high quality.”

“An impressive Advocate”, Robin Shellard, has achieved status in Band 3, particularly for his handling of sexual offences cases involving children and accusations of historic sexual abuse. Having recently prosecuted a well-known musician charged with 33 counts of sexual assault and false imprisonment, the excellent recognition Robin has been given comes as no surprise.

James Tucker has experience in handling some of the most serious (and unusual!) criminal cases. Instructed in R v Porter and Others, a case involving a revenge attack on a drug dealer, James has been noted as a “really robust performer – he fights so hard in court” by his Solicitors, achieving him a deserved ranking in Band 3.

Our exceptional Employment team also gain recognition, with Counsel James Bromige being established in Band 4. James has been quoted as “incredibly thorough and really easy to work with. He does a great job for clients and explains issues in an easily digestible and clear way”. Counsel has been acclaimed for his work in Takyi-Micah v Commissioner of the Police of the Metropolis; a ten-day hearing at Central London ET concerning disability and race discrimination. In addition, James’s other success this year has been his appointment as a recorder on the western circuit
