Hazel Shipp

Barrister

Name: Hazel Shipp
Position: Barrister
Year of Call: 2018

Hazel joined Queen Square Chambers in November 2022 following the successful completion of her pupillage at another Bristol Chambers.

Initially focusing on Matrimonial Finance and building a reputation as a trusted junior in this area, she has represented clients from first appointment through to final hearing. Counsel has experience of financial matters involving overseas assets. She is also regularly instructed in matters where domestic abuse has been alleged.

Hazel is expanding into wider Family Law, developing a practice which encompasses Public and Private law proceedings, alongside her work in Financial Remedy.

Counsel is a calming presence in conference and proceedings, able to facilitate progress in acrimonious circumstances, ensuring her client is fully supported and represented.

Prior to pupillage, Hazel developed her advocacy experience working for Quest Legal Advocates and ELMS Legal as a county court advocate in small claims trials, contract disputes and personal injury matters. Hazel has experience supporting vulnerable clients appearing in the Personal Support Unit at the Bristol CJC. Counsel has also undertaken training as a Civil and Commercial Mediator and has developed strong skills in negotiation as a result.
