Richard Pinhorn
Barrister
Richard is well-known for be a hardworking, robust and extremely focused practitioner, who is able to balance seeing matters from a client’s perspective with giving sensible advice. He specialises in Family Law, with a practice that includes Public and Private Law Children Act, Adoption cases and Injunctions. The primary emphasis of Richard’s practice however has been in Care Proceedings.
He is extremely approachable and has acted for parents, grandparents, Children and local authorities. Richard represents vulnerable clients, including those represented by the Official Solicitor, and victims of domestic abuse. He has experience at all levels of the Family Court, in the High Court and in the Court of Appeal.
Richard read Law at the University of Nottingham where he gained a 2:1, and attended Bar School at Nottingham Law School, winning that year’s Advocacy prize. He was called to the Bar in 1998, commencing pupillage in 1999, and remaining at the same Chambers until 2007. He was a Founding Member of Derwent Chambers in Derby where he remained until moving with his family to the South West.
