Recruitment Opportunity for Junior Criminal Clerk

Queen Square Chambers is a thriving Barristers Chambers based in Bristol and our Criminal Department is seeking an Junior Criminal Clerk to join our team. This role is working alongside two Criminal Clerks and our Senior Criminal Clerk.

The successful applicant will work in our Queen Square office Bristol. They will be joining a team who pride themselves on delivering excellent service standards in an approachable, friendly manner.

The role of Junior Criminal Clerk involves telephone/e-mail communication of legal administration, assisting the Criminal Clerks in the daily diary management of the Criminal barristers and assisting/supporting the team of Criminal barristers with a varied selection of administrative duties.

Our chambers have been here in Bristol for more than 40 years, and today we provide a distinguished and trustworthy service, working across the whole of England and Wales from our Bristol base. The role is 40hrs per week, Monday to Friday between 08:30-18:00.
Flexible working options can be discussed, once the initial training has been undertaken.

Key aspects of the roles will include:
– Assisting with enquiries via phone and email.
– Ensuring Barristers diaries are updated and managed effectively.
– Accepting new case instructions and taking responsibility for electronic case papers .
– Scheduling meetings & conferences.
– Supporting the Criminal Clerks with diary management and daily tasks.

Essential attributes include:
– Excellent interpersonal skills
– Confident communication skills and an ability to create and maintain relationships with a wide range of barristers, solicitors, and clients over the telephone, e-mail and in person.
– A self-starter with the ability to anticipate needs and act ahead of direct guidance in a fast-paced environment.
– Excellent writing skills and good grammar.
– Essential attention to detail skills.
– The ability to handle highly sensitive material with tact and professionalism.
– Good IT skills and an ability to learn new systems and processes.
– Five GCSE’s – 4 or above.

Desirable but not essential attributes include:
– Having worked in a Legal/Chambers environment in an administrative capacity.

Salary
– £22,000-£26,000 depending on experience
– 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
