We are delighted to announce that Queen Square Chambers’ crime team, and four of our members individually, have been ranked by Chambers and Partners.

Chambers’ crime team has been ranked tier three, we were lauded as ‘expert’ regarding our handling of ‘complex and high-profile criminal cases’,  with our clerks also receiving recognition for being ‘fantastic and always [getting] things sorted’.

Charles Row was the only junior to be ranked tier one on the western circuit, he received the following praise for his work:

“A fantastic advocate whose level of preparation goes above and beyond.”
“His client management is excellent as he is able to explain complex points with a view to advising the client appropriately.”
“A consummate professional and effective on behalf of his client. He has people eating out of the palm of his hand.”
He was also described as ‘well equipped to deal with young and vulnerable witnesses’.

Receiving tier three rankings, Robin Shellard and James Tucker were also highly praised.

Robin Shellard was noted for putting “the client at ease so quickly, presenting his arguments fantastically and knowing the case back to front. He is a wonderful pair of hands for any case.” Also highlighted was his prosecution of a man ‘found in possession of unfinished parts of a machine gun, explosives and substances to make explosives.’

James Tucker was described as being ‘experienced in the handling of serious criminal cases involving violence and sexual assault’. Chambers and Partners also praised him for prosecuting a professional footballer for rape and attempted rape in nightclubs in London and Bristol.

James Bromige was ranked tier four for his work in employment, his referees gave him high praise:

“James Bromige at Queen Square Chambers is my go-to barrister. He is knowledgeable, efficient, effective and reliable, with an incredible capacity to recall authorities and facts relevant to the latest case.”

“He is precise, efficient and extremely knowledgeable.”

He was also noted for defending  ‘four linked claims for unfair dismissal, redundancy, age and religious discrimination based on differing interpretations of Orthodox Judaism, alongside marital status and sex discrimination claims by two female claimants.’
